The School of Intelligent Manufacturing and Future Technologies (S-IMFT) at Fuyao University of Science and Technology (FYUST) was built on two core engineering disciplines, i.e., Mechanical Engineering and Control Science & Engineering. S-IMFT strives for inimitable excellence through cutting-edge research exploration, innovative teaching and learning, and deep university-industry collaboration. In research and innovation, S-IMFT operates at the intersection of industrial artificial intelligence and intelligent design, manufacturing, and operations. Our research drives breakthroughs in future technologies that are transforming industries worldwide. In teaching and learning, S-IMFT delivers future-based engineering education that engages students in active and experiential learning environments and empowers them to grow in their unique strengths through project-based, work-integrated, and outcome-oriented teaching.

S-IMFT currently offers undergraduate and graduate programs in two major interdisciplinary areas: Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering and Future Robotics Engineering. We have established strategic collaborations with leading industry partners and global universities to deliver a richer, more impactful program experience. Our teaching philosophy moves beyond the traditional teacher-centered instruction to facilitate innovative, evidence-based approaches that promote active, hands-on learning. Students will have ample opportunities to engage in interdisciplinary project-based learning, to work collaboratively with industry partners to solve real-world problems, and to study abroad for international exchange and cross-cultural experience. This unique engineering education model will ensure graduates have solid technical foundations and a broad range of skills and attributes that are necessary to succeed as professional engineers or research scientists.

S-IMFT is a team of over 40 faculty and staff members, and the majority will bring years of international experience from their research and education. Among S-IMFT’s top priorities is providing opportunities and platforms for academics to develop exceptional research and teaching contributions. S-IMFT is housed in a cutting-edge facility specifically designed to foster research innovation and university-industry collaboration. With a focus on enhancing teaching and learning experiences, the facility represents a move away from traditional classrooms and includes various advanced laboratories and research centers, well-equipped workshops and training centers, and a full complement of technical support staff. S-IMFT is also home to the Key Laboratory of Future Intelligent Manufacturing Technologies for High-end Equipment, the Intelligent Industrial Robotics Research Center, and the Intelligent Die and Mould Manufacturing Research Center.
