On April 10, 2025, Fuyao University of Science and Technology (FYUST) and China FAW Group Co., Ltd. (FAW) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at FYUST to jointly build the industry–education–research Joint Laboratory for Advanced Vehicle Technologies.

China FAW is a major state-owned automotive enterprise group, whose predecessor was the First Automobile Works. The establishment of FAW marked the beginning of the People’s Republic of China’s automotive industry. Over more than seventy years of development, FAW has built five major production bases in Northeast, North, East, South, and Southwest China, formed a global R&D network, and achieved cumulative production and sales exceeding 62 million vehicles, ranking among the top tier of China’s auto industry by sales volume.

Under the MOU, the two parties will adhere to the principles of innovation-driven development, collaborative talent cultivation, resource empowerment, and deep sharing, and will establish a comprehensive cooperation framework encompassing:

· Talent cultivation: Jointly developing training plans; offering related courses and practical modules; implementing a dual-mentorship model with both university and industry advisors.

· Co-created curriculum: Co-designing curricula in automotive engineering, materials science, mechanical manufacturing, and related disciplines; co-developing distinctive courses; compiling real engineering case studies for classroom use.

· Resource sharing: Strengthening exchanges and reciprocal visits among researchers and technical experts; subject to laws and confidentiality agreements, sharing R&D instruments, production equipment, market data, technical documentation, and research outcomes.

· Employment cooperation: Jointly building precise job-matching platforms to align talent supply with enterprise demand, thereby supporting high-quality graduate employment and delivering profession-ready talent to industry.

FYUST is dedicated to building a high-caliber, compact and elite, research-driven, and globally oriented university. Leveraging its strong ties with industry, the university is actively exploring new pathways for the deep integration of industry, education, and research.

At present, FYUST is collaborating with a number of leading domestic enterprises to co-build high-level university–industry joint laboratories, concentrating efforts on high-impact scientific and technological outcomes, co-cultivating top innovative talent, and forging an innovation community that deeply integrates industry–academia–research.
