Graduate education is central to FYUST’s mission as a comprehensive research university. The university highlights the research-driven approach to graduate training through the deep integration of scientific inquiry and classroom instruction, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation. Equal emphasis is placed on both theory and practice, ensuring that students develop strong independent research capabilities alongside real-world application skills. Guided by the vision of building a community with a shared future for humankind, FYUST actively advances international cooperation, builds platforms for global academic exchange, and cultivates an international mindset among its graduate students.

Since 2024, FYUST has partnered with leading universities in China and abroad to jointly recruit doctoral and master’s students. In 2025, the university plans to admit 50 joint doctoral candidates and 100 joint master’s students across five interdisciplinary clusters:

1. Intelligent Manufacturing and Smart Unmanned Systems: Integrating mechanical engineering, control science, artificial intelligence, robotics, and information engineering to drive advances in automation, digitalization, and intelligent technologies.

2. Smart Vehicles and Intelligent Transportation: Spanning artificial intelligence, data science, vehicle engineering, and transportation planning, with research focused on autonomous driving, connected vehicles, intelligent transportation systems, new mobility infrastructure, and innovative solutions in perception, decision-making, and powertrain optimization.

3. New Materials and New Energy: Combining materials science, physics, chemistry, and energy engineering to advance fundamental theories, while developing high-performance materials, novel energy storage technologies, efficient energy conversion systems, and sustainable manufacturing methods.

4. Life and Health Sciences: Integrating biotechnology, biomedical engineering, computer science, information science, and materials science to investigate fundamental life processes and key health challenges. Research directions include precision and personalized medicine, intelligent medical devices, health informatics, and AI-driven diagnostics.

5. Big Data and Digital Economy: Merging computer science, statistics, economics, and information management to accelerate innovations in data mining, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and blockchain, promoting the deep integration of the digital and real economies.

FYUST has implemented a talent-first strategy, assembling a high-level, internationally oriented faculty team to provide a strong foundation for cultivating outstanding graduate talent.
